TRAVEL & STAY

We can’t wait to celebrate with you amidst the crystal blue waters of Barbados. We recommend you secure your accommodations early, as availability can be limited. To assist you, we’ve included links to recommended hotels, AirBnb, and VRBO listings. Our venue is in the parish of St. Philip, but don’t feel you must book in the same parish to be close to the event. Barbados is a small country, so unless you’re booking a spot at the top of the island, you won’t be far away no matter where you stay. The south and western coast is where most of the action is, with many beautiful and popular resorts and beaches, shopping, and activities. If you’re looking for something a little more on the quiet side, the north, east, and southeastern parts of the island may be for you. No matter where you decide to stay, Barbados is a very safe and developed country with many excellent places to choose from. Booking well in advance ensures you’ll secure the perfect place to stay, allowing you to fully enjoy the festivities as you share in our joy and hopefully create wonderful memories with us.

LODGING RECOMMENDATIONS

TRANSPORTATION

The easiest way to get around Barbados is by car, or bus depending on where you are staying. If you’d like to be the captain of your own adventure, there are car rental services, however please be advised you will need to purchase a temporary Barbados drivers permit and have a valid drivers license from your country of origin. A Barbados permit is inexpensive, and is valid for the duration of your trip. You will want to purchase it via email during business hours (9am-4pm eastern time), as we have found that trying to purchase outside of business hours results in our permit arriving to our email the following day. For our North American guests, please be advised that in Barbados we drive on the left side of the road. Below you will find a series of links for car rental, taxi services, bus schedule & info, and Barbados temporary permit. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us!

THINGS TO EAT & SIGHTS TO SEE

Our list of food and activities we highly recommend checking out during your stay.

St. Nicholas Abbey & Steam Locomotive Train Tour

Cherry Tree Hill

St. Peter, Barbados

Working plantation that still produces world class rum with their own copper distiller. Try and do a rum tasting if you can! We highly recommend the steam train ride, and touring the great house which showcases the oldest example of Jacobean architecture in the western hemisphere. There is a cafe with good lunch options too.

Harrison’s Cave Eco Adventure Park

Allen View, Welchman hall

St. Thomas, Barbados

One of Jamar’s favorite spots that offers many different activities from zip lining and obstacle courses to tours of the cave.

P.E.G. Barbados Tours & Cafe

Easy Hall Plantation

St. Joseph, Barbados

P.E.G. Farm incorporates regenerative, biodynamic farming practices into their chicken, beef, and pork production. They also offer one of the only organic farm-to-table cafes on the island, with gorgeous views of the wild and scenic eastern coast. Sign up for one of their guided farm tours, or go and walk around by yourself for free!

Batts Rock Beach

Black Rock Main Rd (comes up on googlemaps as Highway 1)

St. James, Barbados

Madison’s favorite beach on the island so far! Very quiet and tucked away from the large resorts while still being fairly close to most of the southwest island attractions. There is a public restroom and outdoor shower as well as many areas for a picnic.

Oistins Fish Fry

Oistins

Christchurch, Barbados

Oistins fish fry has fresh catch cooked up every friday night. With lots of live music, dancing, entertainment, local arts and crafts vendors, its a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Try the local flying fish, Barbados’ national animal. It does get very crowded as the evening progresses. There is street parking and a large free parking lot nearby.

Chefette

Located across Barbados

Chefette is the local fast food chain unlike anything you’ve had before. Madison dreams of their all-beef and beef-and-potato roti when she’s in NJ. Jamar’s go-to order is the broasted chicken breast sandwich with chips (fries). They also have ice cream, milkshakes, burgers and fried chicken. Perfect spot for a quick bite to bring to the beach or for a picnic.

Andromeda Gardens

Off Highway 3

Bathsheba, Barbados

Highly recommend! One of our favorite places to spend time in nature on the island, Andromeda Gardens offers inexpensive self guided tours and has the best collection of flora specimens on the island. All of the couple pictures on the website were taken there. They have a lovely giftshop and cafe located at the garden entrance.

Richicia’s Bar + Restaurant

Sweet Vale

St. George, Barbados

Highly recommend! Richicia’s Pudding and Souse on a Saturday morning is a local favourite and should not be missed. Only available on Saturday morning until early afternoon or until they run. So call ahead to order for pickup or head over there and wait in person to ensure you don’t miss out on this Bajan delicacy. If you’re daring and can handle a little heat get the spicy option otherwise ask for the mild option to avoid setting your palette ablaze.
